The Mt. Vernon Trail Project (pictured below) begins construction this month, April, 2022, on CR 200 West through the Mt. Vernon School Corporation campus. The safety improvement includes traffic signals & crosswalks. This phase of the project is projected to wrap up in/by November, ’22.
The Mt. Vernon Trail Project will consist of a 10 feet wide asphalt trail, with a grass buffer between the trail & existing roadway. There will be pedestrian scale lighting, as well as benches placed, along the entire corridor.
In 2023, construction along the west side of Maple St./Fortville Pike, from Garden St. to CR 200 West will take place. During this phase of construction, improvement to the Fortville Pike/CR 200 West intersection will occur.
Scheduled for 2026, will be the final leg of the trail project, connecting the Fortville Pike/CR 200 intersection to the existing trail developed by the Mt. Vernon North subdivision.
